DUIMP: the Single Import Declaration
The single document of Brazil's New Import Process that replaces the DI on the Portal Único Siscomex. See what it is, how it works and what changes for importers.
What the DUIMP is
The DUIMP (Single Import Declaration) is the electronic document that gathers, in one record on the Portal Único Siscomex, the customs, administrative, commercial, financial, tax and fiscal information of an import. It is the central document of the New Import Process (NPI), run by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade and the Federal Revenue Service. The DUIMP gradually replaces the Import Declaration (DI), the Import License (LI) and the Simplified Import Declaration (DSI) of the older Siscomex.
Legal basis: IN SRF No. 680/2006, Coana Ordinance No. 81/2022 (Product Catalog) and Coana Ordinance No. 165/2024 (operations and the adoption schedule).
DUIMP and DI: what changes
From a fragmented declaration to a single record on the Portal Único Siscomex.
| Métrica | Before (DI) | Now (DUIMP) |
|---|---|---|
| Document | DI, LI and DSI as separate documents | Single record consolidating customs, administrative, commercial, tax and fiscal data |
| Goods description | Filled in for each declaration | Reused from the Product Catalog, with attributes that complement the NCM |
| Licensing and clearance | LI linked to the DI | LPCO integrated into the DUIMP flow |
| Tax payment | DARF or debit per declaration | Portal Único Centralized Payment module |
| System | Older Siscomex DI | Portal Único Siscomex |
Is the DUIMP already mandatory?
Adoption is phased and follows the schedule of Coana Ordinance No. 165/2024, which the Siscomex Steering Committee updates through notices. In 2026, much of the sea and air operations already require the DUIMP. Road transport and a few specific cases, such as the Manaus Free Trade Zone and part of the public administration, still use the DI, with shutdowns spread through 2026. Because the schedule changes often, confirm the effective date for your operation in the official Portal Único Siscomex simulator before you plan the migration.
How to file a DUIMP
From registering the product to customs clearance.
Register the Product Catalog
Before importing, register your products in the Portal Único Catalog, with attributes that complement the NCM (structured description, documents and images), under Coana Ordinance No. 81/2022.
Fill in the DUIMP
Build the declaration items from the products in the Catalog and enter the operation data: customs value, Incoterm, cargo details and other commercial information.
Handle clearance through the LPCO
When goods require control by a regulatory agency such as Anvisa, MAPA or Inmetro, licensing goes through the LPCO module, integrated into the DUIMP flow and available before clearance.
Assess and pay taxes
Taxes are calculated within the DUIMP itself and paid through the Portal Único Centralized Payment module, without a separate DARF per declaration.
Risk screening and clearance
The DUIMP goes through risk analysis and inspection channels under IN SRF No. 680/2006, and ends with customs clearance and the release of the goods.
Taxes on imports under the DUIMP
Imports are subject to the Import Duty (II), the IPI applicable to imports, PIS/Pasep-Import, Cofins-Import and the state-level ICMS-Import. Federal taxes are assessed within the DUIMP and paid through the Portal Único Centralized Payment module. Rates depend on the NCM code and the regime that applies to each good. There is no single import rate.
